There are about 2,200 cyberattacks per day in the USA. The number is increasing day by day, and year by year.

We might wonder what the purposes of cyberattacks? At least two goals of attacks:

- to cause damages of computer networks.
- to access computer systems

The hackers may attack anything (public and private facilities) includes, but not limited to:

- Individuals
- school
- university
- small businesses
- hospital
- governments (city, states, federal)
- any other organizations

As you know that recent cyber crime was conducted to attack an important infrastructure, Colonial Pipeline.

The attack caused fear, disturbance of oil supply, hence increasing gasoline prices in affect areas.

Then, the gang of cyberattacks asked for ransom. Sadly, CEO of Colonial Pipelines paid a US$ 4.4 millions.

Moreover, as an individual, I experienced several times of this kind of ransom cyberattacks.

Since then, I (or you or anybody) should never assume that we are not important to be a target of this cyber crimes.

The cyberattack is illicit businesses with billion dollars profit worldwide, and increasing year by year.

Can We Involve in Stopping Hackers as an individual?

Sure!

Then, how?

As an individual, the simple responses are following:

- creating strong password (combine of letter, number and special characters)
- not reusing old passwords
- back up data
- if possible, use multiple authentications.

Have you ever experienced ransom cyberattacks?

  1. It makes me so sad to think they're are so many bad people out there. I'm glad that my computer program has good filters for spam and I don't use my phone very much. Have a great day and stay safe. 🌻

  6. As far as I know I have never been the target of a cyber attack of any kind, but I am aware that we are all vulnerable.

  10. Tanza, No cyber attacks here although I was hit once by malware...no demands attached. I don't keep anything on the computer that would do much damage...and no on=line banking. If someone demanded ransom, I'd just shut it down and start over...sort of. All my data is stored in a cloud and can be recovered. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
