We walk routinely every day, usually in the morning (before 9.00 AM) from Monday to Saturday if not rain or other disturbance things. We have done this practice just recently.
Since we have many places to walk or jogging, we always change the venues sometimes, depend on our “mood.”
There are three favorites gardens and parks for us:
- city garden and park (please read: Garden in the Middle of Pandemic - Nature and Wildlife 19)
- university lake and park
- neighborhood garden
We drive from home to reach one these garden, take about 10 minutes to 20 minutes. Not so far.
Path of jogging which circumference the rectangle of the city garden, has total distance about 3.5 km (2.2 mile).
By slow steps, we need 35 minutes to reach 3.5 km distance, more than enough for daily movement for us.
However, the bikes from behind make us annoying, because their speed make us hurry to step aside.
We wondered why bikes use the same path for jogging? Just recently, we found the answer that while we are walking or jogging we must share the road with bikers.
Have you seen “share the road” sign in your city park and garden? If not what kind of signs have you seen?
...our community is not very bike friendly, but they are trying to get better!
ReplyDeleteThe boardwalk we frequent has a paved section for bikers and a wood surface for walkers. It works well.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your walk today. We have rain here so will not get out for a walk today.
I like reading a bike❤
ReplyDeleteWe have a small lane dedicated to cyclists.

Oddly, we did have some streets for a 'bike' lane but they were never used...so they are no longer available. We also have trails that go from the burbs into the city...precisely for those on bicycle, but there are people walking those trails too. In the past decade there has been one murder on those trails and some practical jokes that didn't go so well. Like putting up a wire that has hurt those riding a bike. It's one area that doesn't gets as much police patrol as is needed. Still, many numbers are out there walking. So citizens are on watch for anything dangerous in these areas. It really does help those who cycle to work.
ReplyDeleteI think we all need to be more watchful with those around us. Although, it gets hectic at time while getting from one place to another.
ReplyDeleteHere we even have to worry about the electric scooters about. Stress is everywhere these days. Great post!

Tanza, I don't like bikers along our narrow roads but I respect their right to be there. Pedestrians...walking or jogging...are more predictable in their actions as autos approach. Fortunately we don't have much traffic around here...at least off the main road. Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteJogging path very nice!
ReplyDeleteWe have more motorcycles than bicycles here. We don't have separate biker's or walking lane. The only safe place is go to the park where there is no vehicles of any kind. For safe walking, we go out early when there is less traffic.

Nice! I like to bike :)
ReplyDeleteThe bikers can be a public danger ! We are not equipped for bikes and they don't pay attention ! Even in the Neetherlands where each family has at least 4 bikes, and they have lanes for bikers, they drive like crazy and don't pay attention to cars or pedestrians !
ReplyDeleteVery interesting post. I like ride bike😊

We share a lot of the same paths here. The rule is bicyclists are supposed to yield to runners, and call out a warning if they are coming up from behind. It's aggravating when people are not polite.
ReplyDeleteIt turns out that cycling last year has penetrated the whole world ... we almost every morning cycling to maintain our stamina and family

I love to walk. I wish my feet could keep up with my desire.

We have also received new bike paths here and is now safer than cycling on the road. But we don't have a separate jogging path here either. Here you also have to share it with the cyclists which is sometimes dangerous. What we did receive is a sign of it: "Cyclists - bikes are guests here" but there are few who pay attention to this so it is best to watch out.
