Lost
pig in neighborhood
I
saw someone brought a pig to the public park a long time ago, I was
not so curious, just feel odd.
In
recent days, I saw a pig wanders around neighborhood, my first
guessed that a pig might be from nearby “pig farming.”
No,
no said my neighbor. It was a pet. A pet pig owned by one of our
neighbors. Considered as a lost pig.
There
are at least 70 breeds of pigs, domestics or wilds world wide, about
4 well known breeds for pet:
-
Yucatan
-
African pygmy pigs
-
Vietnamese potbellied
-
teacup pigs
I
do not know which one is good for indoor, but some people said that
Vietnamese potbellied and teacup pigs are the best choice for pets
with distinguish characters such as:
-
gentle and sweet to human
-
intelligent, can be trained like many cats and dogs
-
companionable, walk with human on a leash.
Pigs
life spans is in the range between 12 to 20 years, but pet pigs may
reach up to 25 years old.
What
do you think about pig as a pet?
I hope we don't start seeing pig parks!
ReplyDeleteThis was one large pig! I can't imagine how a pig on a leash would react to a dog on a leash, and visa versa. I'd be worried there would be trouble.
ReplyDeleteis it from captivity, why do I look like a wild boar that looks terrible to me hihihihihihi I'm afraid
ReplyDeletehappy nice day

I’ve heard of people keeping PotBellied Pigs as pets but have never seen one in person. We don’t have any pets because we travel quite a lot (or at least we used to ... not this year though).
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such the big pig at home😊
ReplyDeleteThese pigs are at not suitable for a pet, but they are often bought in an impulsive mood. The buyers think such a pig is very cute and they think it's crazy, but they don't realize that a pig needs earth to root in, space to run and peers to play with. Thats perhaps the reason they gonna with him to the park. But its for sure no pet. They need friends and lots of space.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI see this kind of pig for the first time.
...I have never understood having a pig for a pet!
ReplyDeleteThanks-

Growing up, someone in my neighborhood had a pig. It was quite the sensation. Still, if I saw the one in this picture walking down the street, I'd probably burst out laughing.
ReplyDeleteI know a farmer who has a free range pig farm. I can’t imagine a pig otherwise.
ReplyDeleteHello from Norway! What an special post !Pigs on the run!!wow!!
ReplyDeleteOhh yes we have pigs here as pets but I dont know how they keep them--I think they are breeded mini pigs..Certainly one must have a big space to have these animals..My daughter wanted one when she was a child but I said no..Ok thanx for sharing!

I've heard about pigs as pets but have never seen one. My wife read a book about a family that bought a pig and it supposed to be a teacup pig. It grew to be a regular pig that was huge. They eventually had to find a home for it. Stay safe!

Our pet was a dog.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, she passed away last year.
Best regards Irma
Tanza, We've seen a few pet Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pigs over the last 10 years or so. Not something I'd want. They're too smart and can cause trouble if they're unhappy...and they're very strong. Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
