Cat’s
Ear Dandelion
Common
dandelion and Cat’s ear Dandelion are two different flowers, but
look similar for me. It is said the different are following:
1)
Hairs on leaves
2)
Notched

Notched is less deep in Cat’s
ear Dandelion than in the Common Dandelion.
Both
Cat’s ear Dandelion and Common Dandelion are perennial flowers,
means that they are blooming in Summer to early Fall. Died in the
colder seasons, then grow back in hot seasons.
Two
wild flowers
In
some places, Dandelion
is an edible
plant, good for salad, but I do not know whether American consume or
not now days.
Dandelion
flowers among other wild plants.
In
addition to nutrients, Dandelion
contain antioxidants. The plants are common as traditional medicines
for:
-
liver
infections
-
rheumatism
-
constipation
-
a diuretic for kidney problems
-
gallstones
-
treating urinary infection
Do
you recognize this kind of flower in the nature?
Those are pretty wild flowers.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know this wild plant ( Hypochaeris radicata) and it is often called the fake dandelion which I have written an entire blog about. The root contains a natural cortisone that is used for the treatment of allergies, rash and other itchy skin problems in both humans and pets. I sometimes use the young leaves for a salad because the older leaves are tough and not really tasty. We call it in Dutch: Gewoon biggenkruid.
ReplyDeleteI like these flowers :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos
ReplyDeleteBom dia:- A natureza é belíssima. Fotos que mostram uma sensibilidade fotográfica maravilhosa.

...years ago in this area I would see older Italian men out collecting tender dandelions in early spring. I don't see this anymore, they must have passed on.
ReplyDeleteI've never consumed them, but here in the south I hear many people have them to eat.
ReplyDeleteMany lawns here are full of dandelions. When people don’t use herbicides on the lawns, the dandelion take over. I love to see them in the neighbourhood and on my own lawn. The bees love them too.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother always picked young dandelion leaves and cooked them. I never fancied them. I don’t know if people eat them today. There are lots around for sure.
I'll have to look out for that now. Never realised dandelions were so diverse.
ReplyDeletePretty yellow flowers with many uses.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know dandelion flowers are edible. How interesting. Your photos of the flowers are lovely!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI have never seen the Cat's Ear Dandelion. It is a beauty! It does have many uses and health benefits. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
I have always wondered what the name for Cat’s ear Dandelion was. I see them and think they are a bit more dainty than a regular dandelion. Some people do eat Dandelion here and it’s often at the farmer’s markets. I don’t care for it. It’s too bitter for my taste.
ReplyDeleteConheço o nome, mas não sei se é dado à mesma flor aqui.
ReplyDeleteÉ bem bonita, a flôr!
Bom fim de semana. :)

Tanza, I've never seen this type of dandelion before. As for consuming dandelions, I've had the greens in a salad (not my favorite) and I got drunk on dandelion wine in Brantford Ontario Canada that had been made by my brother's father-in-law from Hungary. Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteI once new some people who made dandelion wine but I never tasted it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the look alike dandelion ! people are very inventive with plants so nothing surprises me with assorted uses .. as long as you understand the plant's properties being non poisonous.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog ;-) ... however did you find it ? LOL
Very useful post . Never knew about this flower
ReplyDeleteBeatifull flowers! Very interessing a post! Kisses
